Search the Library Catalogue (in a new window)GCC library holds an extensive range of set course texts and supplementary reading material for all college programmes. Our collection also includes reading material not listed on course reading lists across a variety of subject areas, including history, literary fiction, poetry, etc.
GCC students have full access rights to GCD library’s collection and are welcome to request such material – along with items not currently available in our collections – at the library issue desk, so we may obtain them via our inter-library loans service.
Each book in the library collection has been catalogued with a specific number to enable you to locate its exact location on the shelf. Generally, books covering similar subjects are located near to each other. However, when searching for a book or a particular topic, please bear in mind that it may not be shelved where expected. As a result, please consult the library catalogue and make a note of the correct location of a book before searching the shelves.
When searching the online catalogue, key in the title, author’s name, subject term, or a combination of search terms to find the desired item. If the search results display a green tick next to the title, the item should be in the library; if a red tick is displayed, the item is out on loan. If the latter is the case, please observe the expected return date and reserve the item at the library issue desk.
If you cannot find a book you are looking for, for whatever reason, please check with a member of library staff and we will be happy to help you either to locate it or, if it is on loan, reserve it and notify you by email or text message when it has been returned to the library.
